There’s an error in Nintendo’s upcoming Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros handheld. Basically, it messes up the lyrics to the “Mario Drawing” song. Not that it doesn’t know them. Rather, Nintendo’s European Twitter account announced there are language errors for four languages that keeps it from displaying the correct subtitled lyrics when using the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros clock.
See, In the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros, the Flipnote Studio “Mario Drawing” song might be sung in English. While that happens, lyrics for the language you set as the default for the unit will appear onscreen. The French, German, Italian and Spanish language options are a bit jumped. While they’ll work properly in every other area, here it will display the subtitled lyrics for another language.
Nintendo offered an explanation of what people can expect on the official UK website for the handheld. If someone sets the system language as French, they’ll see the “Mario Drawing” lyrics in German. If you picked German, they’ll be in Italian. If Italian is the default language, you’ll see Spanish subtitles. Finally, if someone has the language set as Spanish, you’ll see the French translation. The Dutch, English and Japanese language options work as intended.
As for the song itself, it was a Flipnote Studio promotional creation by Nintendo. In case you’ve forgotten how it looks and sounds, here’s the video Nintendo World Report captured.
Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros will launch on November 13, 2020 and be shipped through March 2021.
