The latest gameplay trailer for Atelier Ryza 2 shows the new and improved battles in the sequel. This includes a first look at Lent’s flashy “Fatal Drive” technique in action.
Check out the new battle system in the Atelier Ryza 2 gameplay trailer from Koei Tecmo and Gust below:
Those of you who played the first Atelier Ryza might notice right away that parties now feature three party members and one sub-member that helps out in the “real-time tactics battles.” The battle system revolves around building Action Points and Core Charge. Characters use Action Points to unleash skills or several skills in a row through the “Skill Chain” ability. When using a Skill Chain, it increases all attacks’ power and the amount of Core Charge gained per hit. The party members will also use Core Charge to use items, so that means you can launch a barrage of bombs with enough CC.
Tao also demonstrates new moves as a result of his training, though battle gameplay video ends with a look at a super flashy “Fatal Drive” from our boy Lent. You’ll need to reach the max Tactics Level to activate the Fatal Drive technique. You can check out more battle system details here.
Atelier Ryza 2 will release for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in Japan on December 3, 2020. The game will release in North America for the PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam on January 26, 2021. Europe will get the game on January 29, 2020. The Digital Deluxe Edition will come with plenty of useful items and gems.
