Yoko Shimomura and K-Pop Star Taeyeon Team Up for Gran Saga’s Title Song

Composer Yoko Shimomura has teamed up with K-Pop star Taeyeon of Girl’s Generation for the title song of the upcoming multi-platform RPG Gran Saga. Yoko Shimomura has composed music for the Kingdom Hearts series and Final Fantasy XV, with compositions being synonymous with the latter. The title song, “A Step Faster Than Destiny,” is composed by Shimomura, and vocals are provided by Taeyeon. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

An interview with Yoko Shimomura is available to read on the official Gran Saga website. In the interview, she discusses her inspiration for the title theme. She states that the “beautiful graphics and vibrant lore” contributed to the overall feeling and theme of the title song. Shimomura will also be handling the compositions for Gran Saga. This includes boss themes and overworld music.

Users that pre-register for Gran Saga before November 13, 2020, will be entered in a raffle to win a limited edition Gran Saga original soundtrack CD that will include the Yoko Shimomura and Taeyeon track, “A Step Faster Than Destiny.” The pre-registration website also features two videos with TaeyeFon. One of these videos provides a behind the scene look at the making of the music video.

Gran Saga is an upcoming multi-platform RPG that sports vibrant anime-style visuals. The story follows a group of knights determined to protect their kingdom from the curse of a dragon.

Gran Saga is currently in development for PC, Android, and iOS devices and will release to Korean audiences sometime in 2020.
