Get ready for a serious PlayStation app makeover. Sony announced that an October 28, 2020 will launch worldwide via the PlayStation Blog. It’ll have a new look, as you might expect, but it will also add new features like voice chat, better PlayStation Store access, and PlayStation 5 compatibility.

When you load up the app after the update, you’ll see the new UI. All of your messages from the PlayStation 4 (and PS5) will appear there, replacing the PS Messages app. Parties can be created. Also, you can have a voice chat with up to fifteen people.

There will also be both PS4 and PS5 management options. You can buy digital copies of games for both and start downloads. PS5 owners have a few more options. Storage management is available, so you can delete things on your console from the app. If you’re away from your system, you could get a game started and then have it ready to run the second you get to your system at home.

Here’s a video offering a better overview of the PlayStation app with the October 28, 2020 update applied.

The PlayStation App is immediately available as a free download for both Android and Apple iOS devices via Google Play and the App Store.
