The guide is a hardcover translation of the original Japanese volume containing information about the game’s bosses, environments, quests, characters, and stories. This material will be supplemented with illustrations, maps, and commentary from the developers. The Amazon listing suggests that the guide is useful for people new to the game as well as those seeking to reach 100% completion.

Octopath Traveler is a game with a lot going on. It weaves a narrative of eight separate characters, and depicts its world, Orsterra, through a variety of unique perspectives. There’s a satisfying challenge to it, too, which might be a result of its classical RPG sensibilities being mixed with modern design philosophies. This approach is also represented visually through 2D sprites enhanced by visual effects, which is something Square Enix refers to as “HD-2D” and “HD2D.” It has even trademarked both of these terms.

Octopath Traveler: The Complete Guide is available for pre-order and will cost $39.99. According to the listing, it releases on December 1, 2020. Octopath Traveler is currently available on Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Stadia.
