People won’t have to import if they want a copy of Cotton Reboot. Inin Games confirmed it will publish the Beep update outside of Japan. Even better, people will have plenty of options when it does come to North America and Europe. There will be digital versions, sure, but it will also have physical standard and limited edition releases when it launches in the regions in early 2021.
As a reminder, Cotton Reboot is a side-scrolling shoot’em up and update of Cotton: Fantastic Dreams. Players follow Cotton as she shoots her way through enemies in the hopes of getting Willow candies. This remake has an X68000 mode inspired by the original version, the updated Arrange Mode with 16:9 ratio and new art, and an either two or five minute long Score Attack with online leaderboards.

And this is the latest Japanese trailer.
Unfortunately, while we do know what the game looks like, we don’t know what will appear in the Cotton Reboot limited editions outside Japan. Inin Games did note pre-orders for them will open before other versions, so a reveal should appear soon.
We do know what the Japanese limited edition will include, though! As Game Watch pointed out, people can get the 7,980円 (~$76) bundle and get a soundtrack, a manual, a cup with Cotton’s artwork and logo on it, and additional instruction cards and promotional replicas.
Cotton Reboot will launch on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan on February 25, 2021, followed by a North American and European release in the first quarter of 2021.
