A new Higurashi When They Cry promotional video has been uploaded, this teasing the inclusion of Hanyu. While Hanyu had made an appearance in the original anime adaptation of Higurashi When They Cry, she hadn’t been introduced until the second season of the anime. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Near the end of the promotional video, we see her interacting with Rika. The promotional video also includes other scenes from the new Higurashi adaptation. Additionally, the new opening for the anime “I believe what you said” can be heard in the background.

Hanyu has also received her own character page on the official Higurashi When They Cry website. The description itself is brief, leaning into the mysterious nature of this character. She is described as “a mysterious girl with horns wearing shrine maidens clothes..”

The Higurashi series has recently received its very own mobile game. Higurashi When They Cry Mei is an entirely new story within the Higurashi universe. This mobile entry has introduced three new characters to the series.

Higurashi When they Cry Hou is immediately available for PCs worldwide. It is also available on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan.
