There’s a good news, bad news situation with the Yakuza: Like a Dragon PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. And no, it doesn’t have to do with the fact that the PS5 version will be released over four months after the others. Rather, it has to do with the fact that save data from the PS4 version won’t be compatible with its sibling’s version of the game.
Ryu ga Gotoku Studio took to Twitter to bring up the issue. If someone gets the digital or physical PS4 version of the game, they will get the PS5 version. It’s something of a cross-buy situation. However, the differences between the two games will mean someone couldn’t start playing on the PS4, then take that same save file and use it on the PS5.
While that will be something of a bummer, Ryu ga Gotoku shared another detail that could be more heartening. There’s a video clip showing Ichiban, Adachi, Nanba, and Saeko fighting an excavator on the PS5. You can see them fight the heavy machinery on with attacks like Boxercise Blow and Pigeon Raid.
