Part of the Monster Hunter Rise TGS 2020 discussion during Capcom’s September 25, 2020 showcase involved something that had been touched on during the September 17, 2020 Nintendo Direct. Basically, it was a chance to give people a closer look at four of the Monster Hunter Rise new monsters. Aknosom, Great Izuchi, Magnamalo, and Tetranadon each had their moment.
First, they talked about Magnamalo. We’ve seen concept art of the fanged wyvern before. Since that’s the flagship monster for the game, the team didn’t say too much. They did note it will move in unusual ways.
Aknosom was described as a bird wyvern. It was noted to be “fiercely territorial.” The team also called attention to the feathers on its head and how it looks like there are eyes there.
The Great Izuchi seems similar to the Great Jaggi. It’s also a bird wyvern that can create and hunt with a pack of smaller Izuchis. It attacks with its tail, which is in the shape of a scythe.
Finally, there’s the Tetranadon. This is an aquatic sort of monster. It’s known for its voracious appetite. During the stream, they said it would “eat anything that moves.” It could also eat the ground around it.
Monster Hunter Rise will come to the Nintendo Switch worldwide on March 26, 2021. There will also be three amiibo available that same day, with one based on Magnamalo.
