Those who have made a game with Pixel Game Maker MV will eventually be allowed to release their creations on the Nintendo Switch. The software has received a new update on Steam that allows users to deploy a Nintendo Switch version of the created game. Applications for registering the games for sale on the Switch will be opened at a later date. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
According to the patch notes on Steam, users can access the “1.0.5-switch” branch from the Beta tab to access the Switch support update. This branch has a quicker build output and also allows generating a build that runs on 30 fps.
Although 1.0.4 remains as the default branch for the software, the Switch support for the branch—as well as the older 1.0.3 branch—will also be added at a later time. The setting items to actually generate the Nintendo Switch release build are still locked at the moment; they will be available “as soon as they are ready”.
Pixel Game Maker MV, also known in Japan as Action Game Maker MV, is a 2D action game development software that is immediately available on PCs. An independent release competition using the software had also been held previously with the Game Development Challenge jam that ran from October 2019 to March 2020.
