Balan Wonderworld’s March 26, 2021 Release Date, Co-Op Unveiled

Balan Wonderworld, the upcoming game from Sonic veterans Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima, is headed for release worldwide on March 26, 2021. As part of Nintendo’s September 17, 2020 Partner Showcase, the new gameplay clips showed off a co-op mode, as well as new abilities and controls.

In Balan Wonderworld, you’ll play as two kids, Leo and Emma. The game’s 12 “dreamlike” stages include an ocean stage and a wind stage, and there are over 80 costumes to wear with varying abilities. The co-op mode allows players to combine players’ powers and complete stages more easily.

Balan Wonderworld, announced during July’s Xbox Games Showcase pre-show, is headed to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. It’s the first game from Balan Company, formed by Naka and Ohshima to make games for Square Enix.

The announcement was part of September’s Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase. The stream also included the debut of Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise, Rune Factory 5, Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny.
