Back in June 2020, Sega promised there would be “eight years’ worth of content” for the western release of the MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 in 2020. It’s keeping up with that promise! It announced on the official site that on September 30, 2020, PSO2 Episode 5 will begin. This comes about a month after Episode 4’s August 2020 debut.

As you might expect, Episode 5 continues the ongoing story and takes people into the Omega dimension. There, they can visit Cuento, Epuk, Weyland, and Ys Artia and face the Supernaturals sorts of foes living there. There will also be Buster Quests against Castrum Demonicas.

When it appears, people will be also able to change to the Hero Class and use its swords, talis, and twin machine guns. The swords can use the Trickflash Photon Art. Talis’ Photon Art is called Jet Wheel. Finally, someone with twin machine guns could use Starfire Squall. People will also gain access to the Dark Blast Form after the update and be able to use Dark Blast Skills and Abilities.

Of course, the update will bring with it the expected changes too. People will be able to hit level 90 and get new augments, equipment, and titles. There will be new ARKS missions, seasonal events, and quests and quest types. You’ll have new Alliance Quarters and other areas to explore too.

Here’s the trailer for the fifth episode.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is available for the Xbox One and PC outside Japan. It is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC in Japan. PSO2 Episode 5 will start in the west on September 30, 2020.
