The new Pocky & Rocky game will be appearing worldwide. The new Weekly Famitsu confirmed that Kiki Kaikai: Kuro Mantle no Nazo is heading to the Nintendo Switch in Japan, which Ryokutya2089 shared. Now Natsume and NatsumeAtari confirmed the title, which has the tentative name Pocky & Rocky 2021 in the west, will appear outside Japan as well in 2021. The western announcement didn’t mention platforms, however.
In addition to a release window, other details were confirmed. Most importantly, it will be at the 2020 Tokyo Game Show. We don’t know what that will entail, but the Tengo Project game will appear in some capacity between September 23-27, 2020.
We also have a better idea of how it will play. The new Pocky & Rocky game will be a 16-bit shooter, just like previous games. Screenshots show both Pocky (Sayo-chan) and Rocky (Manuke) as playable characters. It also shows both on-screen at once with their own health gauges, special bars, and scores, which suggests cooperative multiplayer will be a part of this installment.
Here are the first screenshots for the new game.
Pocky & Rocky 2021 will be released outside Japan in 2021. It will also show up at TGS 2020. Another recent release in the series is Arcade Archives Kiki Kaikai for the Nintendo Switch.
