We might be a step closer to PlayStation 5 pre-orders opening. Sony opened a website specifically to prepare people in the United States to call dibs. Except what you’re really doing is registering your interested in being invited to place a PS5 pre-order directly through the company.
Here’s how it works. You visit the page, then enter your PlayStation Online ID. Sony will then eventually email invitations to people who registered, giving them a chance to place a PS5 pre-order direct through the company. The page shows both the standard and digital edition version of the console and FAQs confirmed both options will be available.
Sony clarified what people will be able to pre-order. Should someone be selected, for a limited time they could order one version of the PS5. They could also pre-order two DualSense controllers, two charging stations, two media remotes, two Pulse 3D wireless headsets, and two HD cameras. So someone could get a system, two controllers, one remote, one camera, and two headsets with their order. The site did note that the general PS5 items will be available to the general public.
The opening of the site falls in line with an earlier promise Sony made. Back in July 2020, Eric Lempel said that the company would offer some notice before opening orders.
The PlayStation 5 will be released in 2020. PS5 pre-order invitation registration is now open through Sony, though be advised that “any orders that contain a non-US based address will be canceled.”
