At the bottom of the page, the following disclaimer reads:

In online multiplayer mode, a player will only be matched with others in the region specific to player’s software.

Additionally, for those unsure if they will need a subscription in order to play online with friends, the answer is yes. The bottom of the page clarifies this by saying that either a trial or paid subscription to the Nintendo Online or PlayStation Plus services will be required to access online play for the Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 systems.

For those looking to play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered with friends internationally, you will need to make sure you all have the same region-specific software in order to access the same multiplayer servers. If you don’t, you will be locked out of playing with one another.

Recently, it was revealed that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition is going to have a plethora of content available after it is released. This includes thirteen post-game dungeons and a handful of character and weapon skins for players to access, though the cosmetics will be paid DLC.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition will release for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in Japan and North America on August 27, 2020.
