Sega announced that the service for Phantasy Star Online 2Â on the Hange platform in Japan will end on December 16, 2020. Hange is a Japanese online game community website run by Cocone Fukuoka Corporation.
Phantasy Star Online 2 was released on Hange in 2012, so it had been available there for eight years. But, in lieu of a Sega ID, players in this platform needed to access the game with the site’s own Hange ID.
With this closure announcement, the Phantasy Star Online 2 Hange version will no longer accepts new user registrations and AC purchases. Sega is now offering players on that platform to perform a one-way play data transfer from their Hange IDs to Sega IDs that have yet to be used to access the game. The advantage of using a Sega ID is that players are able to play the game with the same account on all other available platforms in Japan, as well as the PSO2es app on iOS and Android smartphones. This offer is available until the Hange service termination date on December 16, 2020.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is currently available in Japan on Windows PCs and the PlayStation 4, with an additional cloud version available on Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation Vita version will be terminated soon on August 19, 2020. Outside Japan, the popular MMORPG is also recently available on Xbox One, Windows PC, and Steam in select countries and regions.
