Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake has shipped over 5 million copies worldwide in physical units and digital sales. It is also the company’s first PlayStation title to sell over 2 million copies digitally. [Thanks, Gamer!]
Final Fantasy VII Remake is the first title in Square Enix’s big project to remake the entirety of Final Fantasy VII, the blockbuster which has sold over 12.8 million copies in total to date since its first release in 1997. Square Enix’s key members, such as producer Yoshinori Kitase and co-director Naoki Hamaguchi, have since confirmed that they are currently working on the second part of the remake project.
Previously, FFVII Remake sold over 3.5 million copies in just three days after the game was released worldwide on April 10, 2020. The Japanese press release revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake is also Square Enix’s first-ever title on the PlayStation platform to sell more than 2 million digital copies. With the 5 million sales mark combined from both physical shipments and digital sales, that means the game has also reached around 3 million physical copies shipped.
We’d like to share a Midgar-sized THANK YOU to everyone who has supported #FinalFantasy VII Remake.
