The Analogue Pocket pre-order date and launch window have been revealed. People will be able to call dibs on the $199.99 handheld starting on August 3, 2020 at 8am PT/11am ET/5pm CET. The device is immediately compatible with the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance out of the box, with the Game Gear cartridge adapter also available to pre-order on August 3, 2020 and Atari Lynx and Neo Geo Pocket Color adapters following for $29.99 each. The system and first adapter will launch in May 2021.
A cavalcade of information on the Analogue Pocket arrived on Twitter and the official site. It will be possible to have the system go into a “low power sleep mode” at any time with the power button’s suspend function. 360 degree rotation is supported for tate mode, there’s a variable refresh rate, and original display mode options make the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance look like you remembered. The home, select, and start button placement on the handheld has been shifted too.
The Analogue Pocket dock has been adjusted too. It now has a recessed area to hold the system. It supports up to four wired or wireless controllers, with 2.4g and Bluetooth compatibility. Two systems can also connect to each other for multiplayer via a $15.99 link cable.
Other program compatibility was also discussed. When using Nanoloop, you can connect via Nanoloop Pocket MIDI in, analog sync, and MIDI USB-A cables. These will be $19.99 each. It will also be GB Studio compatible.
