This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The baton is about to be passed. Spike Chunsoft confirmed on Twitter that the company will soon be taking over the digital publishing duties for the older Danganronpa games released outside Japan. Dates and details have yet to be discussed, but for now it is more about assuring people that the changing of the guard will occur and digital copies of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita entries will still be available.

Here’s Spike Chunsoft’s announcement:

In case this is all news to you, here’s what’s going on. Back on July 16, 2020, NIS America said it would no longer be the PlayStation Store publisher for the Danganronpa games like Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, and the Vita version of Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. The company even offered the dates in August and September 2020 when the games would no longer be available through them.

NIS America was the publisher for those titles, and for games like the PlayStation 4 version of Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls and Danganronpa 1•2 Reload, because Spike Chunsoft wasn’t self-publishing games back when they were released. Spike Chunsoft does publish its own games. However, when NIS America made this announcement, there was no immediate clarification about what would happen to them. Now we do know that there will hopefully be no major gap as the rights transfer over and the Spike Chunsoft-published PlayStation Store product pages for those four games go live.
