‘Time for Adventure!’ in Mario Kart Tour With Captain Toad

It’s always neat when new, or at the very least “new,” characters show up in Nintendo mobile games like Mario Kart Tour and Dr. Mario World, in part because there can be some barrel scraping. At least in the case of the latest variants, they technically sort of maybe qualify as new ones. Mario Kart Tour’s Captain Toad update has arrived, bringing the Exploration Tour to the game until July 28, 2020.

As you might imagine, this means all sorts of characters, carts, and even locations that seem like they’d fit in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. The two new Mario Kart Tour drivers are Captain Toad and Explorer Toadette. Both are variants, since Toad and Toadette were already in the game, but isn’t each Toad really their own person? Captain Toad has the Hammer special and is available via the gacha right away. Explorer Toadette has Double Bob-ombs and will appear via the gacha starting on July 21, 2020.

Here’s the Mario Kart Tour Captain Toad and Toadette trailer. It also looks at the two new karts, the Clanky Kart and Clackety Kart, and both the Treasure Map and Pink Gold Paper gliders.

Mario Kart Tour is available for Android and Apple iOS devices. Two other fairly recent additions to the roster are Donkey Kong’s Dixie Kong and Funky Kong.
