KOF Chronicle first released in Japan on October 17, 2019, so that means the game will shut down exactly two days before its first anniversary. SNK apologized about the sudden notice and thanked fans for all of the support up until now.

The micro-transaction currency “Diamonds” will no longer be available to purchase starting September 14, 2020, at 4:00 pm JST. However, players will get to make purchases with any leftover Diamonds until the game ends service.

The game only released in Japan, but to give you an idea of what it’s like, the game plays like Metal Slug Attack with a similar style of character sprites. It features various stories across The King of Fighters series, with characters from The King of Fighters ’94 up to The King of Fighters XIV. The gameplay is mostly tower defense that requires you to summon characters to rush down the enemy player bases on the other end of the stadium. In addition to the PvP matches, the game offers co-op play that allows you to take on stages with another player.

KOF Chronicle is currently available in Japan for iOS and Android devices. You can check our previous report for a look at its original announcement trailer and a look at how the game plays.
