It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve had a good ol’ Square Enix teaser in Weekly Shonen Jump, but this week’s issue has one for a certain Dragon Quest title, possibly Monsters. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]

While we don’t have a confirmed date for the Weekly Shonen Jump #35, it is expected to release in early August according to the source, but it could also publish at the end of July. As for the teaser, this week’s issue of Jump says that there will be new info for “that” Dragon Quest title.

Based on the wording, it will be follow-up info on an already announced Dragon Quest game. That said, we can rule out Dragon Quest XII or any other unannounced Dragon Quest game. One obvious title that it leaves us with is the new Dragon Quest Monsters game announced in November 2018.

The last time we heard about the new Dragon Quest Monsters game, it appeared to be going through development trouble. However, that was back in January of this year, so perhaps we’ll get to finally see how it is shaping up.

The new Dragon Quest Monsters game was announced as part of the series’ 20th anniversary. One thing that was confirmed was that it will not be a part of the Joker series. It also won’t be a remake of any kind. So far we know that it will feature Dragon Quest XI‘s Erik and his sister Mia as kids, similar to the way the first game featured Dragon Quest VI‘s Terry and Milly.

Gamestalk also suggests that it could be related to Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, but since that was announced in May it wouldn’t make too sense to tease the title. Back in June 2019, Square Enix was recruiting for a next-generation Dragon Quest project as well.

The new Dragon Quest Monsters game is currently in development as a console game.
