There is a new Evo CEO. On July 2, 2020, Evo announced the previous head of Evo, Joey Cuellar, had been placed on administrative leave after he was accused of sexual misconduct. Following that, multiple companies, competitors, and commentators pulled out of not only Evo Online, but pledged to not support events as a whole due to his presence. Now a new statement confirms co-founder Tony Cannon is the new head of the Evolution Championship Series. In addition, Evo Online is canceled.

Here is the new statement confirming Tony Cannon as CEO. It also confirmed that Evo Online will be canceled, refunds will be issued, and the event will donate what proceeds would have potentially come from Evo Online to Project Hope, a charity that works around the world to provide aid and relief to healthcare workers worldwide.

New Evo CEO Tony “Ponder” Cannon, Tom “inkblot” Cannon, Cuellar, and Seth “S-Kill” Killian founded Evo in 1996. Cannon also co-founded Shoryuken, created the open source GGPO, and founded Radiant Entertainment with his twin brother, Tom. Riot Games now owns Radiant.

Evo Online would have been held July 4-August 2, 2020 and itself was a replacement for Evo 2020, which was canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
