Back in May 2020, City Connection announced that it would be bringing the “legendary kusoge” RPG Hoshi wo Miru Hito to the Nintendo Switch, but that doesn’t mean that Switch players have to suffer in the exact same way as Famicom players did back in the day. It revealed several quality of life features that will help speed up gameplay quite a bit, letting you focus on the better aspects of the title. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
PSI Walk (2x Walking Speed)
Possibly one of the most requested improvements is a way to speed up traveling through the overworld, which is so slow that it’s commonly said that the only two things you do in this game are walk or die. The Nintendo Switch release adds a toggle for the ZR button that lets you double the walking speed, although it’s likely that encounter rates will stay the same.
PSI Reverse (Rewind)
The ZL button adds the ability to rewind gameplay, similar to other Famicom, NES, Super Famicom, and SNES re-releases nowadays. This will likely be very helpful considering the game’s relative difficulty, which is so high that you can get wiped out during your first battle encounter.
PSI Memory (Quicksave / Quickload)
You can save progress to one of three quicksave slots and load quicksaves at any time.
New Game Plus
You’re able to begin the game with extra gold or with the characters leveled up to a certain point. City Connection didn’t specify if this feature will be available from the very beginning, but considering the name, you’ll likely need to beat the game once first.
Other Features:
Wallpapers
You can customize the background wallpaper that fills up the extra space on the sides of the screen.
Ending Records
There are multiple endings in this game, and you’ll be able to rewatch them in the Extras section under Options. It seems that you’ll unlock something if you see all three endings.
Extras
Check out the game’s box art, instruction manual, and even a gallery of fan art.
Screen Size
You can choose larger screen sizes to fit your personal tastes via the Options menu.
Hoshi wo Miru Hito will be re-released digitally on the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2020 in both Japan and in the West, although the game only supports Japanese text. The game will cost $9.99. Check out the trailer for the game here.
