Ape Escape Twitter Account Celebrated The Last of Us Part 2 Launch With Infected Monkeys

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The official Ape Escape 20th Anniversary Twitter account often gets in the habit of celebrating different Sony milestones or special events with unusual art or general goofiness. The Last of Us Part 2’s launch is one of those sorts of events. To honor the game’s debut, official art of Ellie with some of the monkeys has been shared. However, she might want to be careful, as some of them look Infected.

Here’s the Ape Escape account’s tweet with the original art. It features callbacks to both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part 2. The stop sign in the background has The Fireflies’ logo on it. Ellie is playing her guitar, something she does more often than you’d think in the sequel. We also have two monkeys who are trying to enjoy the music, except a Stalker and Clicker monkeys are getting dangerously close!

For examples of some other fun Ape Escape crossover art, here’s one with the monkeys and Gravity Rush’s “Kat.”

The Last of Us Part 2 is available for the PlayStation 4, as is a PlayStation 4 system with Ellie’s tattoo on it. An Ellie Nendoroid is also on the way in November 2020.
