Square Enix shared a few new tidbits for the Kingdom Hearts series today, including release info for the highly-anticipated Kingdom Hearts III original soundtrack.
The information cam along with the special “Kingdom Hearts 2020″ trailer from earlier today. The trailer shows what we can expect from the series in the remainder of 2020, and you can check that out in our previous report. Unfortunately, we didn’t get an actual release date for the Kingdom Hearts III original soundtrack, but we did get a Fall 2020 release window from Square Enix. Best of all, it will be a worldwide simultaneous release.
The first Kingdom Hearts released in March 2002 for the PS2 in Japan. The original soundtrack released on March 27, 2002, a day before the game’s March 28 release date in Japan. The music was composed by Yoko Shimomura, arranged by Kaoru Wada, and performed by the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. It marked a successful debut with the opening track “Dearly Beloved” as well as “Hikari” (Simple and Clean) by Hikaru Utada.
As for Kingdom Hearts II, its original soundtrack released in January 2006, about a month after the game’s December 2005 launch in Japan. It once again featured tracks composed and produced by Yoko Shimomura, with its main orchestral tracks arranged by Kaoru Wada and performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Kingdom Hearts III released in January 2019, so this will be the longest fans have had to wait for a main-numbered Kingdom Hearts game’s original soundtrack.
While waiting, you can check out a nice tracklist put together by YouTuber Thorned Knight below:
