The Persona 4 Golden Steam release was quite a surprise shadowdrop at the 2020 PC Gaming Show. (However, there were a few leaks ahead of time, so people knew it was on the way.) It seems like it was apparently rather well received. As pointed out on Resetera, SteamCharts shows it had 29,984 concurrent players at its peak on June 14, 2020. This means it beat out the current JRPG PC record-holder for player counts, Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition, which had an all-time high of 29,279 according to SteamCharts.
This figure might not be all that surprising to people. As of 8:45am CT on June 15, 2020, there are currently 24,373 people in-game according to the Persona 4 Golden Steam community page. Over 55% of all players have already gotten their first persona, Izanagi, and 20% of them have saved Yukiko. The game is also at the top of Valve’s charts for both Top Sellers and Global Top Sellers as of today, and have been since its launch on June 13, 2020.
Persona 4 Golden is available on PCs via Steam. (It is also Siliconera’s first-ever scored review.) Persona 4 originally appeared on the PlayStation 2, before being ported to the PlayStation Vita with additional content as Persona 4 Golden.
