During the PlayStation 5 June 2020 video presentation, Sony and Insomniac Games revealed a new tale set in the same world as Marvel’s Spider-Man. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was unveiled and showed him taking up where Peter Parker left off. However, statements made by Sony Interactive Entertainment head of European Business Simon Rutter provided to The Telegraph made it sound like “an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game.” Now Insomniac Games has come forward to clarify that yes, Miles’ adventure is a standalone game of its own.
Here’s Insomniac Games’ statement from Twitter, which confirmed it is a new Marvel’s Spider-Man adventure.

The official Twitter account has also been replying to people discussing the game. It has pointed to its standalone confirmation. It also shared a gif of Miles removing the mask with “be greater” and “be yourself” messaging to help set this installment apart.

In Rutter’s statements, he said, “I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game.” He also said, “There’s a substantial Miles Morales component—which is the expansion element…”
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will come to the PlayStation 5 during the holiday 2020 season. The PS5 itself will also launch before 2020 ends.
