Resident Evil Village Currency Suggests It Will Take Place in Romania

Alongside the announcement of Resident Evil VIII or Resident Evil Village, screenshots and a trailer have been released. In addition to this, a short video with commentary from the developers was also let out into the wild. This featured the confirmation of the return of the inventory management system from Resident Evil 4 and the shared a piece of very interesting key art. But that wasn’t the only thing notable in that segment. The screenshot included in the inventory management system reveal makes it look like Resident Evil Village will be taking place in Romania.

In the screenshot, the in-game currency is shown as “lei.” Lei is the plural for the Romanian leu. You can see this at 2:58 seconds into the video above. There are other neat bits of information to glean from the video, so if you’re interested in developer commentary you’ll want to give it a close watch either way.

Resident Evil Village is the next installment in the Resident Evil series. Characters like Ethan Winters and Mia from Resident Evil 7 were shown in the trailer, along with Chris Redfield. Resident Evil Village is slated to release in 2021 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
