We already had some ideas about who might be providing Mario with a little help in the latest Paper Mario entry, thanks to some early screenshots. Now, we have a better idea of the Paper Mario: The Origami King partners and Toads who will offer assistance along the way with some new details, screenshots, and a trailer.
First, there Paper Mario: The Origami King partners are characters who will join Mario as he wanders around the overworld and perhaps offer assistance. Five of them have been mentioned by Nintendo so far and seen in screenshots. The familiar faces are Bowser and Kamek, who are more often foes than friends. As for new characters, King Olly’s sister Olivia, and amnesiac Bob-omb, and a Toad professor will be by his side. You’ll see them follow along Mario in the overworld.
As for the Toad audience, they’ll always be around Mario too. Whenever you enter into a fight, there will be some watching from the sidelines. When you take part, there is a chance they could end up providing Mario with items to help him defeat his enemies.
Nintendo’s latest Paper Mario: The Origami King trailer shows the partners and audience too, while also looking more at the battle system and showing how you can search for folded up Toads. The ring system involves turning the dials during normal fights, but in The Legion of Stationary boss fights you will turn these dials to create a path for Mario to reach the boss so he can damage it. As for folded Toads, Mario will be able to take his hammer to unfold them and return them to their normal selves. Afflicted individuals could look like animals or items, so you need to keep a close eye out.
