Taiwanese horror game Devotion, by Red Candle Games, is now available once more, but only for a week. From June 8-15, 2020, Red Candle Games is offering a limited Devotion physical version for people to purchase via its online store. [Thanks, Resetera!]
The Taiwan Limited Edition is as it says–limited to Taiwan. The first option for the limited Devotion physical version (costing NT 980) includes the game, a children’s book, a small book rack, stickers, and a flower-shaped bookmark that resembles the origami tulips seen in the game. There’s also another option (costing NT 1200) that includes the original soundtrack for the game as well. When buying, you’ll need to first sign up for a Red Candle Games account. You’ll need to make sure to have a valid Taiwanese address as well, as the developer will only ship to Taiwan. The maximum number of copies that can be bought by one account is ten.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Devotion is a horror game similar to P.T. that deals with a family whose breadwinner has turned to a cult for relief, and it goes over the unfortunate circumstances that follow. The game suffered controversy due to alleged political messages and ended up being removed from all store shelves. The game would later be preserved by the Harvard-Yenching Library, but this is the first time the game will be available in any manner since its removal back in February 2019.
Devotion physical copies will only be available for purchase via the Taiwan-only limited edition from June 8-15, 2020. It originally appeared digitally for PCs.
