Gensokyo Night Festival, the Metroidvania combat-focused sidescrolling title developed by Why so serious? and tea_basira got an update at Indie Live Expo today. A new update that adds Stage 2 to the Early Access title is coming soon.
Check out the trailer below:
Stage 2 will take place in the Palace of the Earth Spirits, which is one of the stages visited in Touhou: Subterranean Animism. As shown in the trailer, Utsuho Reiuji and Rin Kaenbyou will appear as bosses for this stage. Not much has been revealed regarding Stage 2 otherwise, but on Steam it was revealed that the Former Capital Boss area is being fine tuned, while the Former Scorching Hell/Underground Geyser Center areas are under development, and will release as other stages in the future. Finally, the Okuu boss fight music is complete, and some bugs were also addressed.
According to tea_basira, progress on the game was slowed down due to a PC crash which wiped out progress on game development. However, he’s working day-in, day-out to bring the next update, so please look forward to more content.
Gensokyo Night Festival is available for PC via Steam Early Access. You can find the game’s Steam page here. The latest update will release in the near future.
