The Samurai Shodown V Special: Final Edition is finally going to get its moment in the sun. The Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection release dates and content have been revealed, and it includes quite a surprise. The updated version of Samurai Shodown V Special, which was location tested but never released, will be there as Samurai Shodown V Perfect. The compilation will come to the PC via Epic Games Store on June 11, 2020, PC via Steam on June 18, 2020, and the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on July 28, 2020.

Digital Eclipse will be handling the collection for SNK. The company has been working on preparing Samurai Shodown, Samurai Shodown II, Samurai Shodown III, Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge, Samurai Shodown V, Samurai Shodown V Special, and Samurai Shodown V Perfect. There will be online versus battle modes for the English versions of each title in the collection, with online arcade, ranked, and casual. There will also be a Museum with 2,000 files looking at the series’ history, characters, interviews, music, pro match videos, and behind the scenes details.

Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection was first announced back in March 2019. It initially had a Fall 2019 release window, which slipped to Winter 2019 and beyond. It will come to PCs via Epic Game Store on June 11, 2020, followed by a Steam debut a week later on June 18, 2020. Then on July 28, 2020, it will come to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
