Shonen Jump’s latest big anime hit has been Demon Slayer, which ran for 26 episodes and has a sequel movie on the way to theaters. Demon Slayer was a bit of a sleeper hit, picking up traction with the anime then shooting up charts after the anime ended. Unfortunately, by the time this surge happened, Demon Slayer‘s manga was already on the way to its ending. The series wrapped up in May 2020, taking many fans by surprise. But it isn’t over yet. In addition to the film, a short spin-off manga series has also been announced. [Thanks, Polygon]

The spin-off manga is not from Demon Slayer mangaka Koyoharu Gotouge, but rather Ryoji Hirano. Hirano has contributed to the Demon Slayer world before, penning a previous, similar spin-off for the series. This time around, it will be focused on Flame Pillar Kyojuro Rengoku. The upcoming movie apparently prominently features this character, due to it drawing from a certain manga arc, so the timing on this manga side story makes a lot of sense.

The Demon Slayer manga is available in its entirety for Shonen Jump subscribers, and the anime is available on streaming services including Funimation, Crunchyroll, and Hulu. A Demon Slayer video game, developed by Cyberconnect2 of Naruto and .Hack fame, is currently slated for a 2021 PlayStation 4 release.
