This week’s issue of Famitsu has revealed more info on Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y, the spinoff game based on the anime movie and ongoing TV series set in a different world. Here Jinpei Jiba (based on Jibanyan) and his group of friends attend Y-Academy and fuse with yo-kai into Yo-kai Heroes. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089!]

Yo-kai Academy Y will have players play through entire school days, which will include going to school, taking lessons, enjoying free time, leaving school, and participating in activities at night. Things won’t be static, as there will also be sudden events that may occur, such as confessions from other students. Depending on how you answer, events will play out differently. Additionally, there are various clubs which you’ll be able to join. For battles, you’re not expected to just win the fights against the yo-kai enemies. In order to become popular, you’ll need to win in a stylish and cool fashion.

Additionally, while past screenshots seemed to insinuate that you’ll be mainly playing as Jinpei, this week’s Famitsu reveals that you’ll take control of eight different characters. This includes Jinpei, Sandayuu, Fubuki, Matarou, Mera, Ranto, Ryuusuke, and a new character named Chiaki.

Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y will release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan in Summer 2020.
