The Square Enix Financial Results for the Fiscal Year Ended March 31, 2020 and a results briefing session were held on May 13, 2020, and Takashi Mochizuki, a Bloomberg tech reporter, has come forward to say that one of the company’s announcements involved a possible presentation around E3 2020. Essentially, there won’t be some big, digital Square Enix event in place of its normal E3 2020 presentation. Instead, Square Enix new game announcements will come up one-by-one.
Here’s Mochizuki’s statement about the Square Enix stance on some sort of big, online presentation that was brought up during the talks.
Square Enix said it won’t hold online event to unveil this FY’s new releases around E3’s timing because making assets ready for such show has become difficult due to Covid-19. Instead, it will announce new titles on individual basis.

Originally, after E3 2020’s cancellation, Square Enix stated the company was looking at other options for showing its games. It is important to note that while it did say it will showcase games in some way, it didn’t commit to an alternate media briefing at the time.
Square Enix has often used its E3 media briefings to bring up multiple announcements. At E3 2019, it showed off Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Kingdom Hearts III Re:Mind, Marvel’s Avengers, Outriders, The Last Remnant Remastered, Romancing SaGa 3, and SaGa Scarlet Grace Ambitions.
