Following last week’s financial report, Capcom released its overview of strategies and plans for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021.
Capcom listed a few of its important themes under the growth strategies for the fiscal year ending March 2021. The first is to aim for a new record of 28 million units in sales. The company aims to achieve this through promoting strategy via expansion of sales regions and flexible pricing.
The second point is a more exciting one with the “aim to release multiple major titles”. Capcom sold a little over 25 million units in the past two business years, so the company appears to be confident with a lofty goal of 28 million. The aim is to expand on its pipeline with multiple major new releases.
In addition to releasing multiple major titles, Capcom will pursue ongoing sales for major titles from past years. That means we can expect to see more support for titles such as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne which was a major factor in bringing in record-high profits for the third consecutive year.
As far as other businesses go, Capcom plans to continue building a presence as an IP company by strengthening licensing revenue. Moreover, it plans to broaden its eSports base through online league play in Japan and overseas.
