Sega has announced that the latest Sega Ages release on Nintendo Switch, Thunder Force AC, will launch on the Japanese eShop on May 14, 2020. A release date has yet to be announced for the Western release of the game.
First announced for Sega Ages back in 2018, it’s been a while since we’ve heard about this arcade game port, which is based on Thunder Force III. Apart from the Styx from Thunder Force III, Thunder Force AC also allows you to play as an alternate, mass-produced version of Styx, as well as Thunder Force IV‘s Rynex.
Sega Ages Thunder Force AC also has some additional elements, such as a score attack mode for every difficulty and Normal Mode-specific Score Attack mode. This version of the game includes the “KIDS Mode” that was originally included in the Sega Saturn’s Thunder Force: Gold Pack 2 and the option to turn on autofire. It also comes with standard Sega Ages features like online leaderboards, replays, stereo sound, HD Rumble support, and display and filter options like “Vintage” or “Cabinet.”
