Either something new is going down between Epic Games and Nintendo, or somebody is having a bit of poyo-flavored fun at our expense. Epic Games recently launched Party Royale, a special environment for Fortnite that will help facilitate the game as a new platform for digital events and other non-combat play. This includes live in-game music events, such as the recent launch premiere, which featured Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, and Dillon Francis. Epic Games recently released a new trailer for Party Royale, and it looks like a certain pink puffball floated in for a quick cameo. Could a Kirby Fortnite crossover Be in the works?
Fortnite now has over 350 million registered players! In April, players spent over 3.2 billion hours in game. 🙌🥳
Let’s keep the party going with our Party Royale Premiere LIVE on May 8 at 9PM ET featuring @DillonFrancis @steveaoki @deadmau5: https://t.co/H18c3UgBL1 pic.twitter.com/Cgt3r7LXQO

You won’t know he’s in there unless you know to look for him. But in the first few seconds of the trailer, you can see Kirby dancing in the bottom-right corner of the in-game event screen. Or maybe he’s in front of it—-it’s hard to tell in the brief moment we see him before the next jump cut. Since Party Royale is quite divorced from the regular Fortnite game loop, Kirby’s appearance here could be anything.
Fortnite is no stranger to IP-based events, but one that’s associated with a console publisher is definitely intriguing. Doubly so, since fans curious about this whole thing discovered Kirby is deliberately blurred out of the same trailer on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One-adjacent YouTube channels.
Fortnite is available on the PC, the Nintendo Switch, the PS4, the Xbox One, and both Apple iOS and Android mobile devices.
