When it comes to Astral Chain sales figures, both PlatinumGames and Nintendo didn’t really bring up exactly how well the Nintendo Switch’s new IP was doing. Now, thanks to the Nintendo Fiscal Year Ended March 2020 Financial Results, we have a better idea of how it performed. So far, over 1.08 million copies have been sold worldwide, with 910,000 of those sales coming from countries outside Japan and 160,000 of them being from Japan.
Previously, some of the figures and information regarding Astral Chain sales were rather positive, though not exactly detailed until we learned 1.03 million copies had been sold as of January 2020. Our last glimpse into exactly how it was doing came from Famitsu sales figures for September 16-22, 2019, as it had the game at 46,875 copies sold in Japan by then. That was roughly two weeks after its August 30, 2019 debut. After that, Ryokutya2089 noted that PlatinumGames’ Takahisa Taura said the studio was impressed with the game’s sale figures.
This also means it is tied with another 2019 release. The Nintendo Switch sales figures noted that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order also moved 1.08 million copies worldwide. It also performed better than Super Mario Party, which only had 1.01 million copies sold worldwide.
Astral Chain is available worldwide for the Nintendo Switch.
