In the trailer, we get to see a meeting between Liu Kang and Raiden, but not long until we see Shang Tsung appears out of nowhere.

According to the official announcement tweet, the announcement will come at 6:00am PT on May 6, 2020. That’s 9:00am ET/2:00pm BST/4:00pm CET. We’re not sure what to expect, but perhaps we’ll see more characters through a Kombat Pack 2 or a DLC focusing on additional story content.

The first Kombat Pack features Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Terminator T-800, Sindel, Joker, and Spawn as additional characters. Spawn, who also received an incredibly detailed figure by McFarlane Toys, was the latest character to join the mix, on March 24, 2020.

Datamined info suggests that Mortal Kombat 11 will feature 42 characters. The game currently features a roster of 24 playable characters and an additional 7 DLC fighters. With a total of 31 fighters, we can expect the game to add 11 more characters to the roster.
