A DuckTales QuackShots ‘Announcement’ Is One of the Most Painful April Fools’ Jokes

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Sometimes, video game April Fools’ jokes can very much hurt, as they represent projects people wish were real. This could be the case with FDG Entertainment and Game Atelier’s DuckTales QuackShots. The publisher sent out a tweet suggesting the Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom developer was working on bringing QuackShot Starring Donald Duck back.

Four DuckTales QuackShots “screenshots” were shared. Each one has the same art direction as the new animated series currently airing on Disney channels. Three have Donald using his plunger gun in different ways, such as making a ladder or catching a ride on a seagull. One has Huey, Dewey, and Louie working together to attack a scorpion with a slingshot.

The actual DuckTales QuackShots game appeared on the Genesis worldwide in 1991, with a Sega Saturn version in Japan in 1995. Like DuckTales, you can visit locations in any order, but Donald’s plunger gun can get different upgrades that require you to go to different places at different times to ensure you are able completely explore every level.

The new version of DuckTales’ third season will debut on Disney on April 4, 2020. In addition, last month DuckTales Remastered digital copies returned to the applicable storefronts for the Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
