Reports are coming in that E3 2020 is canceled. Devolver Digital was among the first companies to suggest things were awry. Its official Twitter account posted a note that stated, “Cancel your E3 flights and hotels, y’all.”
Kotaku News Editor Jason Schreier then followed this up with a tweet that read, “Been hearing secondhand whispers tonight from several devs/pubs that E3 is cancelled, although I’ve also heard from a couple of people in positions to know that the ESA hasn’t officially made a decision yet and is still consulting with pubs. Either way, it’s only a matter of time.”
Wario64 then followed it with an additional statement.
Word is official announcement coming soon

In addition, The GameDev Business Handbook and The GameDev Budgeting Handbook author Mike Futter also suggested that sources told him an announcement was supposed to occur on March 11, 2020.
My day started with investigating some E3 stuff. Ended with multiple (and I mean MULTIPLE) sources coming my way.
E3 cancelation announcement scheduled for tmw AM. I don’t think it will hold the night. Many of us have been engaged by sources this evening.
Cancel your plans.

E3 2020 has been in a rough spot this year. First, Sony said it wouldn’t attend again this year. Then, The ESA said iam8bit would be involved as a “tastemaker” and that it would have stronger security than it did in 2019, when there was a data leak that gave away personal information for registered attendees. The first week of March 2020, The ESA claimed planning for the event was “on track” even with COVID-19 coronavirus concerns. However, three days later iam8bit backed out of the event.
E3 2020 will allegedly be held June 9-11, 2020.
