Tiny Metal is a military-themed, turn-based tactical game. It released for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC on December 21, 2017. Area 35 developed Tiny Metal, while Sony’s indie lable Unties originally published it. Area 34 handled the sequel Full Metal Rumble.
As a reminder, Area 35’s Hiroaki Yura is also known for the game Project Phoenix, a title which was successfully crowdfunded in 2013. The campaign raised $1,014,600 from 15,802 backers. However, Project Phoenix didn’t make its mid-2015 release date and was initially delayed until 2018. In an interview conducted at PlayStation Experience 2017, Director and Producer Hiroaki Yura stated that Tiny Metal would need to sell 150,000 copies in order for Project Phoenix to be revived. In 2019, Project Phoenix‘s Kickstarter updated with a state of address post. The update detailed various goals and plans concerning the game’s on-going development. The Kickstarter page hasn’t been updated since.
Tiny Metal Ultimate will be available to preorder for the Nintendo Switch starting on March 13, 2020. Tiny Metal is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, while Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble is available on the Nintendo Switch and PC.
