The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is coming to Nintendo Switch this Spring in the West, but it’s releasing earlier in Japan, on March 19, 2020. With the game being less than two weeks away, Nintendo has begun pre-loads for the game, and a demo is also available now on Switch. [Thanks, naruki!]

Trails of Cold Steel III is the first game to feature the New Class VII, and stars Rean Schwarzer as the protagonist like before. Rean has graduated from Thors Military Academy, but decides to take up a teaching position at the Thors Branch Campus mentoring brand-new faces.

For some bizarre reason, the third game is the first game in the Cold Steel sub-series to be brought over to the Switch, which will likely leave Switch-only players confused on the story, especially if they start here. That said, there’s a catch-up feature that explains the story of the past two games. Falcom is releasing the Switch version in Japan, while in the West, NIS America is handling publishing just like the PlayStation 4 version.

The demo for the game is likely identical to preview demos which were available at game show events, where players got to try out an early section of the game, and try out playing as several of New Class VII in battle, utilizing some of the game’s new features.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III will come to the PC on March 23, 2020. It is immediately available on the PlayStation 4 worldwide and will show up on the Nintendo Switch in Japan on March 19, 2020 and worldwide in Spring 2020. You can check out the PC version trailer in our last article here.
