In its official announcement, SNK said,

However unfortunately due to rising cases of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) appearing across the globe, for the safety of both the competitors and staff, we have made the difficult decision to postpone these events until further notice.

Updates concerning changed dates will be provided once the situation improves.

We understand that many people involved with this event, including the many fans out there feel let down. It is truly an unfortunate thing to happen, but we wish for your understanding and patience as we wait for this virus to clear up.

SNK World Championship Japan Tour Final was the next event. This would have been held February 29-March 1, 2020 at Nagoya’s Comyufa eSports Stadium. Winners from it would have gone on to the new delayed SNK World Championship Grand Final.

As for the SNK World Championship Grand Final, it was going to be held in Tokyo between March 28-29, 2020, with 16 The King of Fighters XIV and 16 Samurai Shodown players fighting it out. The total prize pool for the event will be over 10 million yen, with the first place winners for both games each getting 3 million yen.

New dates have not been named for the SNK World Championship Japan Tour Final and SNK World Championship Grand Final events delayed by SNK coronavirus concerns.
