Thomas Moon Kang announced that the”real-time deckbuilding roguelite” One Step from Eden will release on the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and Humble Store on March 26, 2020. The “deckbuilding” aspect of the game, as well as the battle system, might seem familiar to those who have played the Mega Man Battle Network series.
Indeed, the game was inspired by the combat, but mixes in elements of its own. Players can choose from over 200 spells that are randomly available and build up their deck of spells to use in battle in procedurally-generated levels where combat is a main focus. After fighting bosses, you can decide to help them or to destroy them. If you help them, they might just come help you out when you’re in a pinch.
Additionally, you can also upgrade your spells with randomly generated upgrades in One Step from Eden. As you progress in the game, your spells will naturally begin to get stronger to match stronger enemies as well. The game will support multiplayer versus, as well as co-op, the latter of which isn’t seen in the Mega Man: Battle Network series.
One Step from Eden will be released on the Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam and Humble) on March 26, 2020.
