Some Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fire Emblem: Three Houses Spirits ‘Grow Up’ When They Evolve

The official Japanese Twitter account has revealed some of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fire Emblem: Three Houses that are joining the game alongside the Byleth DLC. As is common with these sorts of additions, some will be able to be enhanced and turn into a more powerful version of themselves. It turns out a few of the students you can collect follow this pattern and, when they evolve, they actually grow up.

The three Fire Emblem: Three Houses Spirits that are shown growing up in the tweet are Claude, Dimitri, and Edelguard. All three of these students begin as two-star units when you find them on the Spirit Board. If you invest in and enhance them, they can all turn into three-star “grown-up” versions of themselves. Once this happens, they don their more mature looks from after the timeskip.

In addition to the better look at grown up Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard Spirits, the Japanese Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Twitter account shared some new art for four Spirits. These designs were made by Chinatsu Kurahana, the character designer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Dorothea, Ingrid, Rhea, and Seteth all have different looks here. In each case, they are isolated from the background so people can have a better look at their full designs.

Byleth was revealed as the latest Fire Emblem: Three Houses fighter earlier in January 2020. (You can get a better look at them here.) Instead of just being a sword-fighter, they actually use four different weapons from the game. Also, in addition to showing up as Spirits, some of the more famous students from the game appear in the background in Byleth’s stage.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch, with Byleth crashing the party today. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is also immediately available on the Nintendo Switch.
