Marvel’s Avengers Delayed Until September 2020

Another one of 2020’s AAA titles won’t be releasing when people expected. Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers game has been delayed. Instead of appearing in May 2020, it will launch on September 4, 2020. This is the second Square Enix game to be delayed today, with Final Fantasy VII Remake being pushed back to April 2020 earlier.

Scot Amos and Ron Rosenberg, the Crystal Dynamics Co-Heads of Studio, issued a statement on the company’s official website. It noted that the goal is to create a more solid experience that delivers the kind of gameplay people would expect from Marvel’s Avengers. The additional four months will go toward “fine tuning and polishing.”

Square Enix first teased Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers game back in May 2019, before it was revealed at E3 2019. (That’s when it received its May 15, 2020 initial release date.) Its first peek at gameplay happened at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. In the time since, peeks at its A-Day prologue and Ms. Marvel were shared.

Marvel’s Avengers will come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on September 4, 2020.
