Before Phantasy Star Online 2 launches on the Xbox One outside of Japan, Sega is going to be holding a closed beta test. But, before people can start thinking about what it could involve or when it will appear, they need to sign up for it. Microsoft has announced that registration to possibly participate in the test of the free-to-play MMORPG has begun on the console in the United States and Canada.
Signing up for the Phantasy Star Online 2 closed beta is simple. First, you need to have the Xbox Insider Hub on your Xbox One or Windows 10 PC or mobile device. Once you have that app, you head to the Insider Content section and look up Phantasy Star Online 2. As of today, the early sign-up for the closed beta has begun.
There is good news for people who do take part in the Phantasy Star Online 2 closed beta on the Xbox One. The official website confirms that all progress from this test will carry over. Also, everyone who takes part in it will also earn some as-yet-unnamed “exclusive rewards.”
Phantasy Star Online 2 first launched in Japan in 2012. It eventually appeared on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita too. Its Xbox One and PC western release was announced at E3 2019.
Phantasy Star Online 2 will come to the Xbox One in North America in Spring 2020, though a European, Middle Eastern, and African release wasn’t confirmed when the localization was first announced. It will also eventually come to the PC as well, and Microsoft’s Phil Spencer did say at E3 2019, “And yes, it’ll end up on all platforms.”
